The weather is finally warmer and the ground dry enough to avoid damaging off-path areas.

With everyone spending more time outdoors, litter and garbage in public areas of Beaverbrook have been increasing. 

As we are not fully past COVID, we will hold another Virtual Clean-up Event for spring 2022.

  • Do the clean up any time from May 7 to the end of June 2021
  • Do cleanup in small groups - whoever you are comfortable with 
  • Restricted to cleaning up public areas, pathways, parks, etc.
  • Options
    • If you have already cleaned up an area or are planning to, let the KBCA know (email, below):
    • If you are not sure where to do clean-up, contact the KBCA and we'll assign an area
    • If you do clean up an area, let the KBCA know 
    • The KBCA has garbage bags and vinyl gloves for pickup
    • Please take the full bags home for disposal with regular garbage, but if not let KBCA know and we'll arrange for pick-up

Beaverbrook Tree Inventory Course

Do you love Beaverbrook's trees and are interested in their well-being? Consider volunteering with NeighbourWoods in Beaverbrook, a community forest stewardship project.


Join the Beaverbrook two-day tree inventory training session on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, 2023, 9 AM to 4 PM (both days), organized by the Kanata Beaverbrook Community Association (KBCA).

Developed by University of Toronto Forestry professors, the NeighbourWoods© training is for anyone interested in Beaverbrook’s valuable natural resource: our trees. You will learn how to identify tree species and assess a tree’s health and condition. After the course, you will join a team of volunteers to inventory trees on Beaverbrook Streets. Data from the inventory will be used to assess existing trees' health and support decisions about future needs.

Two developers are applying to develop 150 and 180 Kanata Avenue. These are important projects for Kanata North as their backyard is the Bill Teron Park (formerly Kanata Central Park)

These are located on the west verge of Kanata Avenue, which will remove some of the trees (which will be replaced) and be located below the escarpment which is part of the Bill Teron Park. The locations of these developments have been planned for some time, appearing in the original plan for a new Kanata Town Centre prior to the City of Ottawa amalgamation.
