Sustain Beaverbrook - May activities

Sustain Beaverbrook is organizing small-scale sustainability-focused projects in Beaverbrook.  The group is planning workshops, energy conservation programs, local food projects, and more.  If you would like to receive occasional updates about Sustain Beaverbrook's projects, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Fresh Food at Beaverbrook Centre
Sustain Beaverbrook's first project: Fresh local vegetables will be delivered on Thursday evenings to Beaverbrook Community Centre from mid-June until Thanksgiving.  Waratah Downs Organic Farm is offering a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program in which participating residents receive a share of the farmer's weekly produce. May 14th - Walkabiltiy Audit
A final Walkability Audit of Beaverbrook will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 6:30 pm. If you would like to volunteer, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The volunteers will meet at the Beaverbrook Community Centre and traverse six different routes to various destinations, including the Senior's Centre and the Metro. We will evaluate the sidewalk and pathway conditions  using a check-list. This project is coordinated by Ottawa's Council on Aging, which is studying several communities in the City of Ottawa.

The Council on Aging of Ottawa is running their annual spring luncheon on April 29 at the Shaw Centre (formerly the Ottawa Convetion Centre - 55 Colonel By Drive).

Beaverbrook Cleanup - Saturday May 9

CLEAN-UP DAY Saturday May 9  10:30 a.m to 12 Noon

Meet at Beaverbrook Community Centre.

Families welcome.

What to bring:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Water proof boots/shoes

What we will supply:

  • You will be given a map of a specific path to clean-up.

KBCA Annual General Meeting - Tues, Apr 14 7PM

The KBCA Annual General Meeting will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 7 PM at the KBCA Community Centre.

There will be reports on 50th year anniversary celebrations, renovations (elevator + wheel chair accessible washrooms), planning issues, a new logo and more. 

We’re also looking for a new Treasurer.
